Tanzanite Bridge – Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

The Selander Bridge in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, was constructed in 1929 and was named after John E. Selander, Tanganyika's first Director of Public Works. In order to ease congestion, the Tanzanian Government, represented by TANROADS, decided in 2018 to build a totally new bridge along the old one. The new Tanzanite bridge is 1,030 metres long, crosses the Msimbazi Delta, next to the Indian Ocean, to connect Barack Obama Road (prev. Ocean Road) and Kenyatta Drive.

The main contractor is GS Engineering & Construction from South Korea.

On top of the middle section of the bridge, there is a sculpture with several beams, which also had to be durably protected against corrosion.

TRACTO Co. Ltd, the ZINGA Tanzania Distributor, received the order for coating these sections with ZINGA as primer and with a local epoxy sealer and PU topcoat.

The anchor bolts of all the light poles on the Bridge, as well as the access roads leading to the Bridge, are coated with a ZINGA stand-alone system.

Some other parts, such as Uhuru clamps, base plate, bridge supports, and drainage pipes, were protected with a ZINGA stand-alone system.
